As the Notus School District superintendent, I would like to welcome you to the Notus School District website. Our unique district is a gem in the Treasure Valley that enriches the lives of our students and parents, while promoting community involvement and civic responsibility.
Notus School District has found a balance for students that include academics, activities, and athletics. Winning the Idaho State Small Schools Academic Decathlon in 2011, as well as our competitive success in athletics and our diverse list of activities and clubs that include FFA, BPA, Music, and Choir provide opportunities for all students to take part.
The second characteristic that sets Notus apart from other districts in the Treasure Valley is our progressive approach to integrating technology within the classroom and developing alternative courses for students using online learning. This forward thinking approach to education benefits students by maintaining the small school environment with a larger course selection.
The final caveat that defines the Notus School District is our four-day school week. This calendar change provides staff development opportunities that will insure that we can provide a rigorous curriculum that challenges all students without sacrificing instructional time with students. Professional learning teams will be created to create common formative assessments and response to intervention plans for students. Tutorial time for students missing school will be built into Fridays.
I deeply believe in the potential of every student, and I am committed to excellence. I hold the core value of mutual respect to be essential to every interaction, and I strongly encourage the parents of our community to become actively involved as partners in their children's education. All children can learn, and all children deserve to be given the chance to reach their highest potential. I am pleased to share our website. If you have any questions that are not answered as you review our district website, please contact me.
